About
(This blog covers non-business topics for Type-A personalities; for business best practices from a Type-A perspective, please visit The Type-A Way Business Efficiency Blog.)
There may be a thousand blogs out there devoted to personal productivity, but with all due respect to their authors, I haven’t been able to find a single one that is focused on specific action steps for us Type-A personalities (with the possible exception of the newly-revamped 43 Folders and the definite exception of Sources of Insight). So, as with most things in life, I decided to do it myself.
I’ve been an efficiency consultant since 2002, and I’ve worked one-on-one with hundreds of business executives and sole proprietors getting their personal and professional lives in order. Organization should be approached as freeing, not constricting, and my goal for every client is for them to be able to leave for Paris on 56 minutes’ notice, anytime they feel like it.
This blog is specifically for helping Type-A personalities get their lives in order. Contrary to popular opinion, being a Type-A doesn’t necessarily mean you’re organized (or neurotic!) – it means you need certain information and tools to reach your full potential. A lengthy essay on productivity principles or a “101 Organizing Ideas” list may be great for some, but if you’re a Type-A, it’s an overwhelming amount of theory with no step-by-step plan — creating more problems than the author set out to solve.
As Type-A personalities, our natural gifts make us most likely and most able to do great, world-changing things. The stronger your organizational foundation, the more obstacles you’ll be able to conquer, and the more fulfilling and successful your life will be. Being Type-A is never something you should have to hide or “tone down” — that’s other people’s problem.
I meet lots of other Type-A personalities who are positively drowning under mountains of lists and stress, and I want you to know: it doesn’t have to be that way. This blog is for you.
