About The Type-A Way Business Efficiency Consulting

Here at The Type-A Way, we know that every business has unique goals and challenges, and no cookie-cutter solution or textbook case study is going to fit every situation. We exist in order to help our clients be more successful at what they do, and we approach success holistically: we eliminate (or lessen) unpopular tasks, increase employee happiness and productivity, and identify tools and best practices that work best within your company culture.

We’ve worked with hundreds of companies, from psychiatry clinics to auto dealerships, to identify opportunities for improvement — and then helped to implement those solutions. We don’t believe in spouting off theory for a few hours on a conference call and leaving you to figure out the details. (We also don’t believe in team-building retreats or mission-statement-crafting sessions.)

The benefit of an objective outsider’s perspective for even just an hour or two can bring to light everything from new technologies to new postal rate classifications you may not be aware of. Since we work with so many different companies, we’ve already completed a lot of research into things you may be thinking about, and we can share first-hand knowledge as to pitfalls you’ll want to avoid and best practices you’ll want to adopt. Considering a four-day workweek? Not sure which project management or CRM application is the best fit for you business? You can start the research yourself (and we encourage this!), but hiring us for just a short period of time can save a great deal of time and headaches.

We believe strongly in self-sufficiency. We’re consultants, not long-term employees; we’ll give you the strategies and action steps you need to make positive changes in your business, and then we’ll be on our way. (Although we’re always available if you really do need more help or have any questions.) The last thing we want is for you to be dependent on us, just as we would advise against having your entire business dependent upon just one of your employees.

When you work with The Type-A Way, you’ll benefit from one-on-one attention and a detail-oriented approach without the stuffiness or boredom often associated with efficiency consultants. (Although we have to defend The Bobs from Office Space and say that we’d fire Tom, too.) We won’t harass you about the cover page of your TPS reports, but we will hold firm when a situation calls for it.

Company Name & History

The Type-A Way was founded in 2002 by Marina Martin, who has been an efficiency evangelist since birth. It was originally called Type-As, Inc. (as in the plural of Type-A) but enough clients began referring to Marina’s methods as “The Type-A Way” that she decided to rename the company.
